Millions of Americans are affected by pulmonary disorders like Asthma, COPD, and Sleep Apnea. While your primary care physician may take care of the first diagnostic tests and treatment, they may also choose to refer you to a pulmonologist — or, lung specialist— for further diagnostics or to form an in-depth treatment plan.

Pulmonary and Sleep Disorder Treatment
Some patients are surprised to learn that their respiratory system includes more than the lungs. The entire system contains your mouth, larynx, trachea, pharynx, lungs, bronchi and bronchioles, and certain muscles. Our medical team specializes in the function of the entire respiratory system, including organs and related tissues. We also address certain sleep disorders like sleep apnea.
Wondering why your Primary Care Physician has referred you to our clinic?
Most PCP offices aren’t equipped to diagnose and treat respiratory disorders to the same extent as a pulmonologist’s office. Your general physician is the first step to any treatment. While their offices handle short-term illnesses like respiratory colds, they may send you to a specialist for more long-term or severe illnesses.
A question we often face is what illnesses our clinic works with. Every member of our care teams is highly trained in diagnostic and treatment methods for several illnesses.
Pulmonary Disorders are a large category, but the most common include:
● Chronic cough
● Hypoxia (low oxygen level)
● Interstitial lung disease
● Lung cancer
● Lung nodules
● Occupational lung disease
● Pulmonary fibrosis
● Pulmonary hypertension
● Respiratory infections
● Sleep Apnea
What many patients don’t realize is that everyone’s experience with an illness can be different. Obvious symptoms in one patient may be secondary symptoms in another. The combination of symptoms can affect your life differently. That’s why our care teams offer personalized service for every patient.
When you come in for your first consultation, you’ll find a team of caring professionals ready to help you get to the bottom of your breathing troubles. First, we start with your medical history: what runs in your family, what have you dealt with in the past, what medications are you on? Based on your answers, your doctor will order a series of diagnostic procedures to investigate your symptoms.
These tests can include any of the following:
● Blood tests
● Chest X-rays
● CY scanning
● In and out-patient testing
● Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)
● Lymph node biopsy
● Pulmonary function tests
● Polysomnography, or sleep studies
● Spirometry of maximum airflow
● Ultrasound-guided diagnostic thoracentesis
Your care team will explain the purpose and procedure of every test, making sure you know exactly what we are doing and how. Mystery symptoms can be disconcerting enough without being surrounded by strange machines! Our teams will ensure that you are comfortable with everything before proceeding.
Comprehensive Care Plans
Once diagnostics are complete, your doctor will create a treatment plan based on your unique case. Our clinic has access to the most innovative equipment for improving your quality of life. We’ll help you breathe easier or achieve a full night’s sleep.
Treatments can include oxygen therapy, CPAP machines, prescription medications, and more. Like with the diagnostics, your assigned care team will ensure that you understand every treatment and are comfortable and relaxed.
